Wall Art + Display Options

Why is it important to display our photographs ?

We now know so much more about the benefits of hanging photographs of our children on the wall.

Seeing their photograph in a prominent location helps children to understand their place in the family and to feel loved and valued.

It's such a simple thing we can do as parents and it has long lasting benefits for our children. Independent research by Geoff Beattie and David Krauss, both respected leaders in the field of psychology, has demonstrated that seeing themselves in a family photograph is a key part of the socialising process and the creation of a child's positive self image.

Choose a display option that suits your home and family

Most of my clients select at least one large piece of wall art and some smaller framed images, or one of my Italian wooden portrait boxes, for themselves and grandparents.

I have examples and frame samples in the studio for you to see and touch and can help you decide the best way to display your portraits.

I take all of the hassle out of organising wall art and will deliver it to you ready to be hung. If you like, I can even introduce you to my own portrait hanger who will ensure your artwork is hung with precision, safely and securely - exactly what busy parents need!

We cannot underestimate the power of photographs to keep us feeling linked to others and belonging. They cement us into our networks.

For children in particular, looking at photographs is part of the socialising process; learning who you are and where you fit into the family. By displaying photographs of our children at different stages of their lives, we are making a very public statement that we are proud of them.

Placing a family photo where a child can see it every day, without having to turn on a device, gives the child a sense of reassurance and comfort. Photographs have a certainty about them and a protecting quality that nurtures a child. It lets them know that they are loved and cared for.

When children grow up surrounded by photographs, it gives them a richer understanding of where they come from, which helps with confidence. I have done a lot of research into how important it is to be reminded of the past, and photographs are a brilliant way of doing that.

Until recently, people often thought of photographs as almost trivial, but actually they are an incredibly important way of connecting with our sense of self, with each other and with times gone by.

The classic frame included with all collections is handmade wood and available in your choice of four colours: white, black, rimu stain and mocha stain. This can be upgraded to a larger size or more ornate frame choice. Albums are also available.

All of my frames include the highest quality glass to ensure your images are viewed at their best. I primarily use Conservation Reflection Control glass in my frames, which scatters and diffuses the light to reduce unwanted glare. While I would always caution you not to hang a frame in direct sunshine, this glass also contains 99% UV protection.

Scroll through some of the frame examples below to get an idea of what is available; the range in studio in much wider including beautiful metallic and ornate options, modern frameless acrylics which are absolutely stunning and must be seen to appreciate the colours and a wider range of natural woods.

Glass Portraits are modern and incredibly beautiful. They are perfect for all newborn and family images. When you choose an image with bright colours, the vibrancy is stunning. If you choose a softer image, such as a sleeping newborn, the skin tones are delicate and lifelike. The gloss enhances the contrast of a black and white image, creating a piece of art that looks truly gorgeous.
I have wanted to offer Glass Portraits to my clients since I opened my business. I have a gallery of 5 Glass Portraits in my own home and visitors always comment on how amazing they look. I created mine in London but it has not been possible to access high quality products of this nature in New Zealand. Following months of dialogue with a professional lab based in Australia, I am delighted that I am now able to create these unique pieces of wall art for you.
Glass Portraits are a premium product with an acrylic diamond polished surface that looks like glass and highlights the colours in the image. The finished artwork is thin, with a hidden hanging mechanism, and has luxurious and modern feel. It is guaranteed against discolouration or UV related fading for 30+ years.
You need to see these in person to get the full effect; make sure you check them out at your viewing appointment!

Upgrade your keepsake box to one of our beautiful handmade wooden portrait boxes from Italy. With a crystal clear lid it can placed on its side and used a display frame. It is also the perfect coffee table piece. I like to think of these boxes as an un-bound album, where you can take the images out and look at them, show your friends and family and change the image being displayed at any time.

Many of my clients purchase the larger size which holds up to 25 mounted images so they can keep adding to their collection when they come back to update their baby milestone images or family portraits. Also available in a smaller size for up to 10 images, perfect for grandparents.
